An important
Buddhist tourist spot, Solampur is a village in the
Bhandraipokhari Police station of Bhadrak district. Recent
excavations have taken this village out of anonymity and placed
it as a place of archaeological and religious importance. The
village is famous for the discovery of a large number of
Mahayanic and Tantric Buddhist images and a notable slab of
stone depicting eight great events of Gautam Buddha’s life, with
the creative excellence and skill pertaining to the style of art
of the early mediaeval period.

road Bhadrak on the National Highway No. 5 and by rail it is on
the Kolkata - Chennai route.
